Hot Szn

Brett was sitting in his local coffee shop, minding his own business, when Anna approached him.

"Hey Brett!" said Anna.
"Anna, oh, hi," replied Brett. He was shocked that Anna was talking to him.
"What are ya up to?"
"Oh, you know, this and that."
"Writing again?"
"Yeah, you know me. Write write write." He pantomimed typing on his computer.
"I know! I really admire that about you."
"You do?"
"Yeah, you're so hard-working! It's hot."
"It is?"
"Yeah, totally. Can I join you?"
"Ummm, yeah sure." Anna sat down across from Brett.
"Have you been working out?"
"Yeah, I've been moving the weights around a little bit."
"It shows, you look great."
"I do?"
"Yeah totally, and I love that haircut!"
"You do?"
"Yeah, you're really starting to put it all together."
"I am?"
"Yes. Ugh, and you're so modest! Like you don't know you're a total hottie."
"I am?"
"Yes! You silly goose." She took her index finger and tapped him on the nose. "Boop!"
"Are you drunk?"
"What! It's noon on a Tuesday!"
"My question stands, are you drunk?"
"No silly Billy."
"Okay, then what is going on?"
"What do you mean?"
"Correct me if I'm wrong," said Brett as he leaned in. "But I think you're hitting on me."
"So what if I am, you're a cutie."
"Ummm well let's see." He leaned back. "We've been coming to this coffee shop for 5 years now. We kept it cordial forever. Then I finally gathered the courage to ask you out in November and you didn't seem interested."
"Oh come on, that's all in the past!"
"Then I asked you out again in February and you flaked, again."
"I didn't flake!"
"You flaked."
"Did not! I was really busy with work!"
"Work?! You're in this coffee shop for hours every day."
"So?"
"Sooo you couldn't find a few hours here and there to have a drink with me?"
"Oh come on Brett! That is all in the past!"
"Maybe so, but imagine my surprise that I find you now, on a warm day in May, hitting on me."
"Maybe I'm just starting to see you in a different light?"
"Yeah, it's called the warm sunlight of spring!"
"What do you mean?"
"You think it's a coincidence that you are into me the exact time the flowers start to blossom outside?"
"That doesn't make any sense!"
"Nothing has ever made more sense."
"Maybe I was missing what was right in front of me the whole time."
"What, me? No, that can't be it."
"Yes, you. You silly goose." She tapped him on the nose again. "Boop!"
"So now you're magically into me, and the entire reason is......me? Is that what you want me to believe?"
"Yes, I think so."
"Can't do it."
"C'mon, can't a girl change her mind?"
"No. That literally never happens."
"It does so. It happens all the time."
"I've lived a long time, it's literally never happened before. And besides, how do I know you won't change your mind again?"
"Huh?"
"How do I know you won't flake out on me again?"
"Because I won't!"
"Ha! Yeah right."
"So let me get this straight. You have asked me out twice already and I supposedly 'flaked', but now, when I'm right in front of you, actively hitting on you, you don't believe it?"
"Yeah, that sounds about right."
"So you don't want to take me out?"
"Woah woah woah, let's not get carried away here."
"So then you do want to take me out."
"Obviously, I'm not insane."
"Great! Let's do Friday."
"Friday? I kind of already had plans."
"Well, you have new plans now."
"What?"
"Oh, and don't cheap out on me either. I'm not going to be easy. I expect to properly wine and dined."
"Huh?"
"You heard me."
"Okay."
"Great, glad that's settled!" Anna got up from her seat and walked over to Brett. She poked Brett's nose again. "Boop!"
